Edit - Applications - MGL - Journal Numbers (v2.7)

Every transaction in Micronet requires a unique reference number. This identifies the transaction, allowing it to be found and reported. You can enter a user-defined number for General Ledger accounting journal transactions, or Micronet can generate an automatic number for you using the numbers set on the Enter Journal Numbers screen. When Micronet automatically generates reference numbers for journal transactions, it composes the numbers in the following way:

• Micronet assigns a three digit prefix to each month, beginning at 001 and then incrementing by 1 each time the GL period number changes. Therefore, each transaction posted to the same GL period has the same three digit prefix at the start of the reference number. For example, journal transactions processed in July 2011 might be prefixed with 145.
• You might then enter the following journal numbers into the Enter Journal Numbers screen for each period (as described in this procedure):

When journal transactions are posted to the Ledger, Micronet would then generate the following reference numbers:

• where GLJ = General Ledger Journal
• 145, 146 or 147 represents the three digit prefix for the journal period, and
• the last five digits are the individual journal transaction numbers, incremented by 1 each time a journal transaction is posted.

If each monthly field in the Enter Journal Numbers screen is left as zero, Micronet restarts transaction numbering for each month at 10000.

To update the MGL journal numbers:

1. Select a company to edit.

Refer to "Selecting a Company to Edit".

2. Select EDIT | APPLICATIONS | MGL | JOURNAL NUMBERS.

Micronet displays the Enter Journal Numbers screen.

3. Enter the MGL journal number corresponding to each month.

4. Select the Ok button.

Micronet redisplays the Change Existing Company screen.

5. Select FILE | SAVE.
